Portraiture in a studio setting doesn’t need to be hard. Candid portraiture in a dark basement is really hard. Now grant you, I don’t shoot people very much (photographically, we won’t talk about the other kind :)), so I know I could use quite a lot of practice. However, that doesn’t take away from the difficulty of the style. It’s something I’d be interested in pursuing, but I don’t get a lot of opportunities. There’s timing, light awareness, composition… all sorts of fun stuff to play with that I don’t usually get to do. Perhaps this photo365 challenge will be good for me, because I’m sure I’ll end up taking pictures of people more than I would normally.
Do you take good portrait photographs? I would love to hear any tips you have!
